As nucleus equipment of digital monitoring center, DVR is an integral system which combines audio and video codec, memory and network. With the stepwise increase of people security protection consciousness, The DVR product of video monitoring is more and more widely applied in all walks of life, corresponding the DVR major design of video coding and memory technology are also becoming hot spots. In this paper, on the basis of previous work on DVR system code and storage technology do a new research and implementation.Article introduces DVR system structure and working principle of the whole, comprehensive analysis of the current market on the various DVR scheme after the relative merits of place, and further analyzed the DVR system research situation, proposed the deficiencies. According to the market existing scheme and the deficiency, this paper made the following improvement:First video coding part for adopting the most advanced h.264 standard, compression rate is high, can save a space, low bit rate and fault tolerant ability, high quality, and the image smooth using FPGA chip internal powerful parallel processing ability, will collection, compression and multi-bus integration together, not only realizes flexibility, but also make systems have been stable. Because coding using integer transform, and the FPGA design process just does not involve floating-point operation, and can be reused, therefore this paper using the FPGA completed the h.264 video collection, frame forecast, transform quantification and motion estimation etc of the module. Finally, using the Modelsim software for coding part simulation and analysis results, Quratus II on the logic synthesis, realize the coding process. Storage, use the FPGA realizing DVR internal memory design, Modelsim simulation validation, using the IDE RAID technique solves storage outside enlarge, expanded disk capacities, meet the customer's requirements.DVR system code and storage technology is two key techniques, directly determines its performance quality and market's competitive position, use the FPGA device to realize the coding and storage technology, the compression efficiency high, disk space is large, flexibility, high stability of the system, and has important theoretical significance and practical value.
