| The horizontally polarized omni-directional antenna has been widely used in the fields of broadcast communication, base station and wireless spread spectrum communication. With the rapid growth of wireless technologies, the communication transmission efficiency is getting higher and higher, which requires that the antenna has broadband frequency properties. Therefore, research on the broadband horizontally polarized omni-directional antenna has important significance. Because the microstrip antenna has a lot of merits such as low profile, light in weight and easily conformity with carrier, the design of the broadband horizontally polarized omni-directional antenna is realized by taking the microstrip antenna as the foundation and using the broadband technology and arrays form.The basic theory of microstrip antennas are introduced first in this thesis, including the radiation theory, ways of feed and analysis, and the broad band design of microstrip antenna is analyzed. Then, the horizontally polarized omni-directional antenna is designed by using the rectangular patch as the unit, and the effect of several parameters on the radiation pattern shape is analyzed.As using the parasitic elements can improve bandwidth, two kinds of broadband antennas are designed by using electromagnetic simulation software CST. Two kinds of broadband horizontally polarized omni-directional antennas are designed using the parasitic elements antennas, and simulation result shows that the radiation pattern is omni-directional.At last, because traveling wave antenna can widen frequency band, a ten unit series traveling wave fed array is designed, which has broadband frequency properties and much higher gain. The microstrip array antenna is designed using the traveling wave antenna as the unit, which realizes the broadband and horizontally polarized omni-directional properties. |
