With the awareness of people's environmental protection and growing energy-saving, the use of solar energy has become a trend. In the use of solar thermal, solar water heater is a product, which is the most practical applications, and more mature technology. In this paper, there is a solar water heater affected by the seasons and weather, which can't provide enough hot water to achieve normal use for a full year. We designed an automatic control system of solar water heater, to achieve the water temperature, level of acquisition and display, to complement intelligently light and electric heating, and to complement automatic and manual operation functions.In this paper, we designed a large-scale solar water heater system for heating and bathing, introduced the working principle, and carried on the design of the system software and hardware. To PIC16F877 microcontroller as the detecting and controlling core, we achieved not only acquisition and display functions of temperature, water level in the two parameters of real-time, cycle tracked to achieve the temperature control and complemented intelligently light and electric heating, but also increased the clock display and timer operation for DS302. And all parameters can be set flexibly through the touch-screen, but also manual control can be complied. The system also has the explosion-proof protection for the collector, the breaking detection for the temperature sensor, the burning detection for the heater, the plumbing antifreeze and so on, alarm light and sound features, to improve the security and reliability of the system.Practical research results show that the controller, to compare to the past controller, with cost-effective, temperature control and display accuracy, easy-to-use and performance advantages of stability, improved control of our level of solar energy applications.
