The airborne backbone network is defined as the communication nodes with flyability,which is the network infrastructure used provide IP-based communication service. The airborne backbone network is a high width,low latency,and integrated transmission network operating on the large aerial platform.In the Global Information Grid(GIG) communication architecture,the communication satelite system network provides sky-based connection,the deployable theater communication system provides ground connection,and the airborne backbone network provides airborne connection function.The airborne backbone network kinds of will comprise different links and subnets,including point to point,point to multipoint, ad hoc,and half duplex,etc.The network member features high mobility and entry or exit any subnet without permission.There are many technical challenges in construction and integration of airborne backbone network,such as enterprise network management,network modeling and simulation ,information security,network attack and protection, new wireless network,and link protocol,etc.At this point,the airborne backbone network protocol architecture and scheme design is the core to construct airborne backbone network.This projects is based on the national advanced research program performed by CETC-10.This project will analyze the funcational requirements and key technologies of airborne backbone network protocol and propose a networking protocol optional scheme for airborne backbone network based on the research of architecture and characteristics of airborne backbone network.The proposed scheme can be employed on the airborne command and control platform ,large Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV),and air reconnaissance platform for network application,which features high stability,flexibility,robustness,and real time.It also can provide end-to-end QoS.This project is vital to overbome the challenges in airborne high volume intelligence acquisition and distribution and increase the net-centric operation capability of airborne platform.The Paper proposes the optional scheme for subsequent airborne backbone network protocol design and can be a reference for engineering implement.
