In recent years, Machine Vision has become an important branch of photonics application, widely used in microelectronics, PCB manufacturing, automatic control, printing, scientific research, industrial on-site monitoring, military and some other fields. Currently, Machine Vision of Chinese market is in mushrooming development, and a large number of companies and personnels of research in Machine Vision have emerged. With increasingly widespread application of machine vision systems, industrial cameras (eyes of Machine Vision), as a core component of the system, determine image quality and higher speeds. CCD (Charge Couple Device), due to its high resolution and fast response, becomes the most commonly used image sensors in Machine Vision, and also the core components of industrial cameras.This paper indroduces a FPGA-based embedded systems with a combination of linear CCD device technology, and studies a design method for the data acquisition system of high-resolution industrial CCD camera, including design for analog front end circuit and rapid acquisition of image data, data storage and data pre-processing circuit, data transmission circuit and related software, and transmitting the real-time data to the host computer for further processing. The background of the subject derives from the industrial on-site monitoring of the image acquisition system, such as linear CCD camera system widely used in removal of tobacco impurity, cotton testing, food cleaning, fabric testing, rice color sorter and so on. These cameras transmit the real-time image data, acquired on-site, to the host computer. Upon the appearence of debris and substandard products, the system will automatically remove them, which would greatly improve production efficiency and save labor costs.Real-time image acquisition is the core technology of industrial on-site monitoring, and has a direct impact on product performance. According to the requirements of real-time image processing system, this paper chooses Altera's FPGA of Cycloneâ…¢series as processor, adopts CameraLink high-speed image transmission interface, uses DALSA's high performance CCD sensor IL-P3-B, and introduces a design method for data acquisition system of a linear CCD industrial camera.
