With China's development of economy and society, people have now put more demand on enterprise's social responsibility. At the same time, in order to maximize its interests and realize sustainable development, enterprise also takes cognizance that only on the basis of realizing enough social responsibility, could it get a far-reaching development. Transportation industry is one of pillar industries of national economy, transportation production is the proceed of production in circulation and an important segment of social reproduction, so transportation enterprise owns a special status, and the social responsibility it should carry also remains to be done. In pursuit of economical interests, they should pay attention to stakeholders' interests, social benefit, transportation safety, low-carbon life-style, energy conservation, environmental protection, emergency security and so on. In those respects, there're still many difficult problems and no comprehensive and systematic research. In view of this, on the basis of research for social responsibility of road transportation enterprises, its definition, intension, composition were analyzed, in order to conduct a comprehensive research.After adequate research on related theories and features of enterprises' social responsibility, its intension and content architecture were distinguished to direct and indirect social responsibility. Then, taking practical problems in realizing direct social responsibility as guidance, suggestions like propelling reforms involving the company's system, structuring large-lot producer, building up effective corporate governance structure were put forward. Last, on the specialty of road transportation enterprises, indirect responsibility was observed. According to theories of externality, it was classified as positive externality, including public service and emergency security, and negative externality, such as transportation security, energy consumption and environmental pollution. Then approaches helping enterprises to improve assumption of responsibility were advanced. At the end, it was pointed out that enterprises should strengthen intensity and heighten degree of concentration of road transportation market, government should develop a supervisory role and formulate a encouraging mechanism, and at the same time, laws and regulations should be perfected to intensify social responsibility.
