A Research On The Influence Of Transportation Corporate Social Responsibility On The Financial Performance

Modern enterprises have become to fulfill social responsibility of corporate citizenshipfrom profit organizations which are pure pursuit of profit. As basic industries of the nationaleconomy, transportation companies are security of people’s life and running the country.Compared with other industries, they have more and higher requirements on the socialresponsibility. However, as profit organizations, there are still concerns in terms of socialresponsibility impact on its financial performance in transportation enterprises. In addition,the relationship between corporate social responsibility and financial performance do notachieve the same conclusion. Research on the influence of social responsibility on financialperformance of transportation enterprises is even less. Therefore, this paper hopes that it canmake transportation enterprises realize the relevance to fulfill their social responsibilities andto improve financial performance through theoretical analysis and empirical research of socialresponsibility of transportation enterprises influence on the financial performance. And then itcan provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for transportation enterprises to take thesocial responsibility.Based on the stakeholder theory, this paper analyzes the influence on socialresponsibility to the financial performance between general corporations and transportationenterprises, and then makes an empirical test about the impact of transport enterprises tofulfill their social responsibility for their financial performance. Concretely, socialresponsibility of transportation enterprises is divided into employees, government,shareholders, creditors, suppliers and social welfare in this paper. With the sample of A-sharesof transportation enterprises listed on Shanghai and Shenzhen and the data from2010to2012,this paper builds a multiple regression model and makes a regression analysis for stating theimpact of transport enterprises to financial performance. The emp irical results show that thecurrent social responsibility has significant influence in the current, the next phase and thenext two financial performance. Namely, fulfilling social responsibility is a positive impact onfinancial performance for transportation enterprises.
