Chinese power grid construction develops dramatically with China's continuous steady economic development. In the twelfth five-year development plan, China will put huge investment in power grid construction and development to speed up development of China's basic industries. As power grid construction in Yunnan uring the twelfth five-year development plan period will surplus RMB 10billion annually, it becomes an important theme to consider how to strengthen the cost management and increase the benefit from project investment management. It is unneglectable that inadequate control over the investment during the power grid construction and delayed cost control still exist and affect the power grid construction and steady development of the Chinese economy. Under the new historical conditions, investment control of power grid construction shall be continuously improved. This paper is on the employer's (investor's) footing, discussing on the following issues concerning investment control of the power grid construction:1. a multi-perspective review of related theories on project investment management control to set up a base of systematica 1 analyze for this paper; 2. specifying basic theories on project cost management and project management process analysis; 3. analyzing the status quo of the project investment control of power grid in Yunnan based on the real situation; 4. bringing out the investment control strategy for power grid construction projects in Yunnan, and specifying the cost control pattern of Yunnan power grid; 5. the specific application of the construction cost control in Yunnan power gird and experiences drawn therein. In this paper, the author brings out the strategy to improve cost management system of power grid construction projects in Yunnan power grid, and gives out the key points with case study. The strategy proposed is very applicable.
