The Empirical Analysis Of The International Technology Spillovers Through Improt Trade Of China

Since the reform and openness, our country's foreign trade gains fast development in the past 32 years, especially export trade has become the one of the three cart to promote economic growth. However, with the development of economy and society revolution and upgrade, resource binding contradictions are increasingly apparent. Now where China's opening up to go and whether foreign trade development strategy by export-driven should turn to import substitution and so on. This is our present problems and should be resolved urgently. In such circumstance, this paper bands together endogenous growth theory and our real situation to discuss the correspondence of China's economic growth model and the international technology spillovers though import trade.The international technology spillovers through import trade has been focused in the field of economics since the 19s in the 20th century. The theoretical and empirical research has quite rich. This paper aims to further validate the international technology spillovers and its contributing factors based on the China'data since China's reform and openness, using the previous research of domestic and foreign.First of all, this paper summarizes the theories related to the international technology spillovers though import trade and review empirical studies both at home and abroad. Based on the above theory, this paper points out the further research orientation is the empirical analysis of the international technology spillovers through import trade of China——based on absorptive capacity. Then, using the modified CH model and utilization of China's real macro data, this paper verify the international technology spillovers through import trade have effect on the total factor productivity. Besides, by introducing the absorptive capacity variables of domestic R&D input, human capital, trade openness, technology gap and trade structure and this paper calculates the effects of different contributing factors respectively. The empirical results shows that the domestic R&D input and the human capital are the main determining factors. However, Because of the relative lower level of both the domestic R&D input and the human capital, the domestic enterprises in China cannot absorb the technology spillovers perfectly, which hampers the technology spillovers caused by import trade more or less. trade openness, trade structure and technology gap are important indexs of our import trade policy, these factors effect different respectively. Finally, based on the above analysis and empirical results, this paper puts forward policy advisement according to our country's actual conditions, including implementing prosperous trade through technology, adjusting and optimizing the structure of import and export trade; enhancing the absorption consciousness and ability of foreign technology spillovers and second innovation; establishing the absorption capability system construction of trade technology spillovers and forming a kind of mutually reinforcing mechanism; strengthening intellectual property protection.
