| Under the background that economic globalization pushes forward quickly, China’s economic and trade have both attained sustainable and rapid development over the past30years since the reform and opening up. The prominent position of foreign trade in contribution to economic growth has been further strengthened and deepened. However, stressing the export trade, under-estimating or even ignoring the effect of import trade for economic growth is a long-term tendency in policy practices and researches in our country. The problem that China’s foreign trade is developing with increasing trade imbalance, frequent trade frictions, low-technology products and small trade interest is becoming more and more serious. The expansion of import is an urgent current need to improve the environment and optimize the trade structure of China’s foreign trade. It has both theoretical and realistic significance to study systematically on the effect of import trade on economic growth. And all these make me choose it as the subject of this paper.Development economists believe that the economic growth of one country depend on accumulate of the capital and technology progress; the latter composes core competition capacity in country’s developing. Technology progress of one country relies on domestic R&D capital stocks and the absorption of R&D spillovers. Technology spillovers was not only considered as an important factor that the developed countries achieve the modernization, but also an important way that developing countries share the results of the world’s technological progress. Some of the major channels for technology spillovers are international trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). Domestic related researches focus on technology spillovers of FDI. The text studies technology spillovers of trade.First, this paper combs the relevant literatures both at home and abroad and then analyzes the mechanism of technology spillovers brought by foreign trade from the theory in a specific role. On this basis, tests the technology spillover effects of our country trade empirically by quantitative analysis method. In the empirical test part, focuses on the technology spillover effects of China’s foreign trade from three angles of the import trade, export trade and trade structure. We have got some conclusions. Firstly, import trade is the most important channel of international technology spillover; Secondly, the effect of import technology spillover depends on the domestic absorption capacity. Then we put forward some suggestions according to China’s realities. Firstly, we should further expand trade openness and optimize the import trade structure; Secondly, we should formulate fair trade policy and raise awareness of intellectual property protection; Thirdly, we should accumulate human capital and increase infrastructure construction; Fourthly, we should strengthen domestic development and increase the absorption capacity. |
