With China's rapid economic development, deepening of the adoption of reform and opening up and the substantial growth in residents'income, the number of rich people becomes larger than ever before. China is becoming a main market in the luxury consumer market. China's luxury goods consuming can be traced back to the early nineties in the 20th century, it develops fast in recent years. According to the World Luxury Association that the Chinese luxury goods market size reached 8 billion U.S. dollars in 2007 and accounted for 18% of global market share. Its consumer groups accounted for 13% of the world's population, thus become the world's third largest luxury consumer only after Japan and the United States. In 2008, China's luxury goods amounted to 8.6 billion, accounting for 25% of the global market share for the first time in history surpassed the U.S. as the world second largest consumer of luxury goods only after Japan. In 2009, mainland China luxury goods surpassed more than 9.6 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 27.5% of global market share.The rapid development of China's luxury market serves as a golden opportunity for the luxury industry in China, not only the brand, but also the Chinese investors, retailers and designers and the manufacturers all have the chance to gain benefit from the growth of the luxury industry. However, the rapid development of the luxury market has also revealed many facets of import and export problems in China's luxury industry. At the backdrop of the above situations, this paper offers a comprehensive analysis of the current situation of import and exports of luxury goods in China, analyzes the problems and causes, proposes solutions to import and export of luxury goods problems based on our national conditions and foreign advanced experiences.This paper is consisted of six elements, the introduction explains the background and significance of the topic, literature review, research methods, and ideas and related theoretical support. The second part describes the current situation the luxury goods and the luxury market at home and abroad. The third section introduces the status of the import and export of Chinese luxury industry. The fourth part analyzes the reason of status quo of import and export of the Chinese luxury market. The fifth part mainly talks about the problems of the import and export of China's of luxury industry with given status and the reasons. The sixth part offers strategies for the problems existed in the Chinese luxury goods import and export industry.This paper mainly based on the theoretical analysis, comparative analysis and other research methods. It is in line with theory directive, comparative analysis serving as the main approaches, abiding by the principle of solving practical problems as the ultimate goal. It offers a comprehensive analysis of the import and export status and reasons and poses the existing problems of the luxury industry in China. With the introduction of case studies and learning from the successful experiences of foreign countries, it strives to come to a convincing conclusion. Innovations are made in the following aspects:the in-depth analysis and research of the import and export of the luxury industry in China, especially its existing problems, which is very rare in existing researches and the studies, and the study will lead to more importance and concern attached on this particular problem by both government at all levels and enterprises for building the solid foundation for the development of China's luxury market. This paper contains some personal views, and limited by practical experience in theme selection and the constraints of professional knowledge, this paper is still needed to be further modified.
