The Study On Science And Technology Competitiveness Of Thai Agriculture

Agriculture, the base of economic development, is an important source of life and industry resources with merits of achieving the millennium aim that there will be reduced the half of starve and poverty population globally in 2015. Agriculture plays an important role in global economic development. Thai Agricultural production has strong competitiveness in international market. This study will be significant because national agricultural technology competitiveness determines national agricultural competitiveness.First, this study determines connotation of technological competitiveness by reviewing literature of institutions and scholars at home and abroad, and then establishes agricultural technology assessing system from three aspects of environment, input and output of agricultural technology based on this connotation.Second, the compare of Thailand with America, Kazakhstan and China elicit the results: agricultural technology competitiveness of Thailand is much lower than that of America represented developed countries, also lower than that of Kazakhstan represented the part of developing countries which already achieved urbanization, but higher than that of China represented those countries which are transforming their economic and social patterns.Then, this study makes the sample of Thai rice that with higher international reputation to illustrate the realities of agricultural technology competitiveness, and analysis the successful experiences from high quality seeds cultivating, experts of agricultural technology training and agricultural policy making.Last, this study provides some advice to Chinese agricultural development: increasing input, improving the treatment of agricultural technology experts; cultivating high quality seeds, actualizing famous brand strategy; unifying standards, strictly controlling the quality; and strengthening publicity work to occupy domestic and abroad market.The main originations of this study are to establish technology assessing system of agricultural competitiveness based on determining the conception of technology competitiveness, and then, to analysis agricultural technology competitiveness of Thailand by this system. The result of this study shows that Thailand obtains the high agricultural technology competitiveness although it is low in the whole technological level. China should make its efforts to explore the way with Chinese characteristics through learning successful experiences from Thailand.
