Application Of Value Engineering On Designing Transmissions For Vehicles

Enterprises should improve and enhance their key capability to survive and grow up in the environment of sound competition. Since the key capability is embodied by their products, enterprises should gain the profits, get more market shares and take the advantage over their rivals by supplying the products with high quality, good performance and reasonable price. Thus the enterprises should adapt the changing market by producing new products and the quality of the development and research for their new products is critical to be superior in the market. In this thesis the fundamental philosophy of Value engineering is introduced to develop and design the manual transmissions for the sedans, also the effects of value engineering as the guidance to develop and design the products are analyzed in details. After briefly stating the history, the principles, the application scope and the analysis way of value engineering, this thesis is mainly focused on applying value engineer on the process of developing the new model of manual transmissions so that the enterprises could reduce the cost and improve the price of their outputs while the demands and functions of the products are well met with. With improving the performance and the quality and diminishing the redundancies emphasized as the core of the products'function concept, and at the same time reducing the costs while producing, using and retrieving the products in their life cycle as the mainly referred content in the cost analysis, the purpose, the methods, the procedures and the achievements to realize the products'functions and reduce the costs are systematically stated in the following context. Also envisions applying the value engineering to design the vehicles and other car parts are given in this thesis.
