Research On FDI Technology Spillover Effect And Its Factors Under The Condition Of Economic Transition

At the beginning of reform and opening-up, China proposed "market fortechnology"development strategy, but after more than 30 years' development, did FDIhave a really positive technology spillover effects and which factors would haveestablished an impact on FDI technology spillover effect, that's an important topicworthy of reflection and inquiry. In order to facilitate analysis, choose GuangdongProvince for the empirical study, which attracts FDI earliest and largest, is the bestrepresentation of China reform and opening up.Based on extensive review of recent studies, this article makes the theoretical andempirical analysis on FDI technology spillover effect and its factors, proposes thecorresponding policy recommendations according to analysis conclusions.Theoreticalanalysis: firstly, elaborates the process of FDI technology spillover systematically andpoints out that technology gap is a prerequisite for FDI technology spillover, while FDItechnology spillover includes five channels: demonstration effect, associated effects,training effects, competition effects and agglomeration effects. Secondly, analyzes theinfluence factors of FDI technology spillover effects in the following three perspectivesof technology itself, technology providers and technology recipient.Taking into accountthe special context of economic restructuring, the article also analyzes FDI technologyspillover effect in the economic transformation;Empirical analysis: based on theoreticalanalysis conclusions, selects Guangdong Province industrial data as sample, establishesthe measurement model including system variables. Through contrast of the estimationresults that contains system variables and does not, applies First-order Difference andFixed-effect Method, finds out that there is an overestimate of FDI technology spillovereffect if ignoring the system variable,etc; Policy recommendations: takes the theory andempirical research findings as a clue, recommendations include improve theinstitutional environment, enhancing the quality of foreign capital, improving domestictechnological absorption and innovation, improving the relevant supporting policies,which aims to play full use of the positive FDI technology spillover effect.
