Culture is always in change. In the process of modernization, cultural change is more than ever inevitable. How does a nation's culture develop while adapting to the change of times and of environment and learning from other cultures? It is a fundamental yet evergreen subject in cultural anthropology.To investigate and study the marriage custom of the Kyrgyz people living in rural area, the author carried out a fieldwork in the Jigen district in Uluchat County. Based mostly on that, this thesis tells the marriage custom in traditional Kyrgyz culture, and describes the current situation and the changes in the marriage custom in the rural areas where the Kyrgyz people live. Furthermore, the author tries to explore the factors in changing the custom and the impact of such changes on Kyrgyz culture.Chapter One: Introduce the significance of the study, the theories on cultural change, the concept of"Community Sense,"others'work on the subject, the research methods, and the background of the Jigen district.Chapter Two: Tell the traditional marriage custom in Kyrgyz culture, based on literature review and people's description recorded in the fieldwork.Chapter Three: Describe the current situation and the changes in the Kyrgyz marriage custom in rural areas, based on the fieldwork data.Chapter Four: Discuss the causes for the changing custom and the impact of such changes on Kyrgyz culture.
