With the progress of economic globalization and the increasing volume of international trade, conflict between international trade and environment has become a global issue. The ever-growing non-sustainable production and consumption have gone beyond the endurance of the natural environment, which has resulted in deteriorating natural environment and endangered the existence and development of animals and plants. At the same time, the increasing of productivity and salary standard has brought up people's awareness on ecological protection. This makes people start thinking seriously of the relationship between economic growth and environmental protection. Because international trade is an important factor in stimulating economic growth, how to promote the coordinate development of international trade and environmental protection has become one of the important issues in the academic world.Since the reform and opening up of China's economy, Zhenjiang has witnessed great development in the field of economic and international trade, with the coming of more serious environmental problems. This paper tried to highlight this economic phenomenon, and discuss the environmental impact of Zhenjiang's export. It has significant theoretical and practical meaning as to coordinate the relationship between export growth and environmental quality, improve trade competitiveness and achieve environmental friendly society of Zhenjiang. This paper summarized the relevant literatures both in and out of China firstly; then analyzed the environmental impact of Zhenjiang's exporting trade on the basis of relevant knowledge and theory of international trade and environmental economics. This paper used VAR model to analyze environmental impact of Zhenjiang's exporting trade, and employed generalized impulse response function and variance decomposition analysis to investigate the dynamic interactions between exporting trade and environmental pollution by using a Zhenjiang's time series data set of three pollution indicators during 2001-2010. The research result indicated that exporting trade was an important factor in influencing Zhenjiang's industrial waste gas and solid emissions, and the impact was comparatively obvious in the short term. A there is no long-term stable relationship between exporting trade and industrial waste water emissions, exporting trade has no influence on industrial waste water emissions of Zhenjiang. The results of variance decomposition analysis suggested that exporting trade was the main variable for explaining the forecasting mean square error of industrial waste gas and solid waste discharge. Finally, based on this research, the paper gave the final conclusion and tried to recommend a political suggestion to maintain a sustainable and harmonious development between exporting trade and environment of Zhenjiang.
