| As the economy continues to develop across the country as well as the adjustment of China's economic policy changes, the region's economic development model had changed from "large and complete", "small and complete " diversified industrial structure before the reform and opening up, to part of the cities to pursue specialized industrial structure with the world economy integration, and to the present, many cities are facing at a series of practical problems such as industrial structure adjustment and transformation due to resource depletion and other factors, which make the relations among specialization and diversification of industrial structure and economic growth have become research focus of numerous scholars. However, what scholars concerned is the broad economic growth that drove by inputs and productivity increased, the former role in economic growth is not sustainable, so we should concern about the impact of industry specialization and diversification on productivity. Therefore, this paper will combine the results of previous studies, use 284 (deduct three cities in the absence of data) Class Cities'data from 2003 to 2009, which studied the problems. The framework of this study is divided into the following sections:First, this study reviewed the existing researches at home and abroad, based on the analysis, we explored the factors which affect the formation of industry specialization and diversification from theoretical development and practical experience. Among them, the theory development including the factor endowment theory, the scale of economic theory, new economic geography theory, externality theory and demand theory preferences; in real-world experience, there are many other objective factors that may affect the formation of different industries structure, such as industrial policy, human environment, the cluster organization environment, social capital environment, institutional environment, the region's economic environment, political environment, legal environment, natural environment. On this basis, this article analyzed the mechanism that specialization and diversification effect on productivity from the theory aspect.Secondly, this paper basis on Rahman's theoretical research model, adjusting the assume combined with this paper, we use this models derived lead to the conclusion that in the equilibrium conditions, the city size in diversified industrial structure is greater than the specialized industrial structure. Again, with estimates of specialization index, diversification index and urban productivity, this paper using Eviews6.0 software to study the issue empirically testing, the final conclusion:in the particularly large and large cities, develop specialization industry will hinder regional economic development, but diversification industries development will be more conducive to productivity improvement; in the medium-sized cities, the impediment of specialized industry to their productivity has been not obvious, and diversified industrial structure is significant in promoting urban productivity; for small cities, specialized industrial structure has a positive effect in improving its productivity, but the role of the effect was not significant, and develop a variety of industries will be impediment to its productivity. Finally, based on the above theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, this paper promote some corresponding policy recommendations industrial restructuring. |
