Research On Problems In Management Of Information System Development Of Bank A

Since entering the 21st century, Chinese banking has put into a lot of effort in information system development, among which Bank A, as one of the biggest bank in China, started building its management information system in late 1990s. Although Bank A has been improving its information system all these years, including building centralized data system and core banking system, however, with the fast development of business scope, management model and diversity of product portfolio, the existing information system of Bank A still cannot meet the demands of its high-speed development.By looking into the problems existing in the development of information system of Bank A, through detailed example and logical argument, my paper is focused on the factors that have deep impact on information system building within banks including strategy development, process re-engineering, building of enterprise culture and ect. At the same time, lessons are drawn from advanced theory and experience of other Chinese and foreign banks, and the corresponding application and feasibility in Bank A are analyzed and verified.Through research and analysis, I hold that, to realize the objective of improving overall competitiveness, Bank A should give high priority to the building of management information system in its strategy development, which should also be considered an essential link to innovation of management model, re-engineering of process and transforming of system. Solutions to the problems after analysis is therefore concluded:information system building should be integrated into the strategy of the commercial bank, increase efficiency and save resources through process engineering, improve inter-disciplinary talent strategy development and cultivate versatile staff in both technology and business.Hopefully, my paper could serve as an overall guidance for Bank A on setting up its strategic objectives, improving processes and talent management model, as well as providing reference for other commercial banks in solving such problems.
