As Disneyland Theme Park is about to open in Shanghai, this paper is a complete study on how Disneyland will influence the economic structure and retail types of its surrounding areas and also a financial analysis on setting up a five-star international hotel in Shanghai Disneyland plot. This paper is divided into 7 parts. Part 2: the brief study on other Disneyland around the world (i.e. the most popular case– Tokyo Disneyland and the first case in China– Hongkong Disneyland) and local government policy for Shanghai Disneyland. Part 3: the analysis on the strategic positioning of this international hotel regarding opportunities and challenges. Part 4: the discussion about how to choose the location for a hotel and specifically for the hotel in Shanghai Disneyland plot. Part 5: the financial analysis of the project investment including portfolio, cost, revenue, profit, cash flow, sensitivity and etc. Part 6: the introduction on management and risk control methods for international hotels. Part 7: the conclusion.Great opportunities arise for investing in surrounding commercial facilities with the start of the construction of Shanghai Disneyland. After the official opening of Shanghai Disneyland in 2015, hotels within the plot will witness a considerable amount of customers. It is high time that investors should set up a five-star hotel in the west wing plot to Shanghai Disneyland. Apart from park visitors, this hotel will attract high-profile business and administrative customers from surroundings. Financial feasibility analysis, risk analysis, and special concerns are also provided in this paper.
