The Research On Risk Management Of C Bank's Overseas Ship Financial Leasing

Ship financial leasing is one of the main means which the domestic and foreign ship owners used for purchasing ships. The overseas ship financial leasing innovated by domestic commercial banks and SINOSURE was developing rapidly since global financial crisis in 2008. How to effectively control the risk and promote the new structural ship finance becomes one urgent problem to be resolved for the commercial banks.Based on introducing the finance mode and analyzing the main risk, the author is trying to find the measures for risk prevention of overseas ship financial leasing based on working experience. The paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the background and purpose of research, as well as the ways of research. The second part is about the traditional ship financial leasing and the theoretical analysis for main risk of this kind of finance. The third part introduces the finance mode of C bank's overseas ship financial leasing and the business development in C bank. The fourth part analyses the risks of C bank's overseas ship financial leasing in banking practice with many case studies. The fifth part focuses on the risks prevention for C bank's overseas ship financial leasing by properly designing finance structure, using of financial instrument, formulating rules and regulations, building business team, improving the abilities of experts and so on, based on the theoretical introduction of financial leasing risks and the risk analysis of C bank's ship financial leasing.The innovation and contribution of the paper are following:first, the research on risk management of overseas ship financial leasing innovated by commercial banks and SINOSURE is the first innovative study in China, and it will contribute to both the theory research and risk management in banking practice; second, the author comprehensively introduces the innovative finance mode of overseas ship financial leasing, and also analyzed the causes of risks based on traditional financial leasing theory with using case study; third, based on the business operation experience, the author gives many practical suggestions for prevention the risks of C bank's overseas ship financial leasing, which included combining bareboat charters and time charters, corporate guarantee covering payments of the rent under bareboat charters and loan offered by bank, using of financial instrument, assessment and selecting the customers, building business team, improving the abilities of experts and so on.
