A Study On The Interactive Development Of Public Art And Local Culture In Small Towns

Under the framework of"Theoretical and practical research on public art and brand model of Chang-Zhu-Tan urban agglomeration"which has been approved as an important project at the provincial level, this thesis is to study the interaction between public art and local culture in process of developing the small towns. Through a thorough analysis of the status and existing problems on implementation of public art in Longhui, a town in Hunan province, and by learning from the successful experiences of public art construction in small town at home and abroad, this thesis tries to illustrate the process the interactive development of local culture and public art and its impacts, from the angle of environment, anthropology, ecology and other multi-discipline perspective. Also the direction of innovation and development of public art in Longhui and the new theoretical system for establishing future development of public art in small towns are elaborated in this thesis.This thesis is made up of six parts: Chapter One is the literature review of the research, including the background, methods, significance of this subject. Chapter Two is on the basic principles, nature and forms of public art, also an analysis of the status and development of public art in small towns at home and abroad. Chapter three mainly describes the value and significance reflected by the development of public art. Chapter four discusses the interactive process between local culture and public art in small towns, starting with the beauty of public art, and then the meaning and role of local culture is explained, lastly on how to inherit excellent traditional culture of art forms of Longhui town and the surrounding towns in the process of Longhui towns Construction. Chapter five is to discuss the future development of this study which concludes the research process and significance of this thesis. The innovation of this paper lies in that the author has witnessed the decay of the local culture in the small towns. Through research the author analyzes the theoretical system of the interaction between local culture and public art in small town, so that the Longhui county and the surrounding towns can be endowed with strong ethnic and cultural characteristics; in this way, the intergenerational intangible cultural heritage in the small town' can be passed down.
