With the rapid development of Chinese's economy and global economic integration, as well as the division of labor between international trade, the trade information becomes more and more transparent, more and more overseas buyer prefer to buy directly from factories instead of the purchasing agent who was playing important role in the international trade, the space for the agent becomes smaller and smaller. In order to survive, they must find the right way for transformation and find the position in the new value chainG company is a small multi national purchasing agents based in HK and China mainland. The company survived in the 2008 financial crisis after it returned to core competencies of the main service business, and became to make profit in 2009. Taking G Company as an example, the thesis analysis and researches the practice of G company after it returned to core competency of business, and give true reflection of the challenges and opportunities of the purchasing agents facing recently. In order to survive in the industry, small size purchasing agents must be constantly changing development strategies, return or build the company's core competency in the dynamic competition model, focus on developing the core competency, upgrade and extend the core competency. Empirical research'results show that the core competency is the foundation of the company's survival; To foster core competencies is the key for company development and sustainable development of the core competency is company's aim.By applying scientific theories models to analysis G company's core competency and it's return to core competency of business, the value of this thesis is to prove the importance of core competency in the purchasing industries, raise the urgency of change and transformation for the purchasing agent's business model and present theory and practice transition for small and medium companies.
