In recent years， NanChang， the rapid growth of traffic demand and the urban trafficcongestion， more and more old main part in especially early， late rush hour is very seriouscongestion appear， for to the general public release of NanChang timely traffic information，facilitate everybody travel， establish NanChang intelligent transportation managementfoundation platform is imminent. This paper puts forward the city traffic geographicinformation database and the establishment of the database based on the NanChanggeographic information system for transportation development issues， can set up forintelligent transportation management foundation of NanChang city information exchangeplatform to provide important technical reference and support.This paper first detailed description of geographical information systems and geographicinformation system for transportation of the basic theory as well as the two contact，introduces the difference between traffic geographic information system in our country’sdevelopment. Secondly， a clear the NanChang geographic information system fortransportation demand analysis and system design principle， and constructs the systemdevelopment flow chart， and key research detail based on the driveway data model andvirtual multi-level node of the road network model. Then，through to the NanChang city roadinfrastructure investigation and analysis of geographical data pretreatment technologyroadmap according to collect data traffic geographic information system and its aspretreatment， the completion of the background geographic data set and traffic project dataset， the topological rules and network data set to create process to realize the NanChang citytraffic geographic information system Geodatabase database.
