The genus Dichaetomyia is affiliated with the Muscidae of Diptera PhaoniinaeDichaetomyiini. It is widely distributed Palaearctic region, Oriental region, Australianregion and Ethiopian region. The adults generally live on leaves and grassland. Mostthis kind of flies could be found in different excrements, such as human, cattle, horse,sheep and so on. Also may be found in the flowers and leaves of plants. The larvasalways founded in shard are usually saprophytic, and some kind of larvas whichcan prick paddy field larvae are feeding lepidoptera skin are predacity. At present,there are279species names of Dichaetomyia all over the world. So far we havealready found34species of Dichaetomyia in China, including five new speciesreported in this article. However the actual number is far more than these, and thereare still lots of species for us to be discovered and recorded.This article had systematically studied the species and distribution ofDichaetomyia in China which were collected from about21different provinces, citiesand autonomous districts in China; a new key with34species is given from China;The research had found5new species, D. hainanensis sp.nov.., D. yunnanensissp.nov.., D. nigrifolia sp.nov.., D. wuzhishanensis sp.nov.., D. jianfenglingensissp.nov., supplied5known Chinese descriptions of known species by translatingforeign literatures, drawed16character figures. In addition, this article has listed thenames of all known species in the world, and the endemic species of each region aregiven. According to the distribution of Dichaetomyia in China, drawed thedistribution figures by GIS ArcView3.2.The whole article contains about28,000words,21figures,60references andadds the English annotation.All specimens of new species in this article were deposited in the Institute ofEntomology, Shenyang Normal University.
