In recent years, with the rapid development of the economy of the coastal areas in ourcountry, as the special and precious land resources, port coastline resources of Zhoushanare basic and strategic natural resources, and play a very important role in the social andthe economic development. And as a new zone in china, the development of ZhoushanIslands has formally been written into the12th Five-Year National Development Plan at2011. Zhoushan faces a very rare opportunity for his future development. However, in theexploitation of port shoreline, because the resources of shoreline can not be planed andused reasonably, many serious problems take place, such as, larger waste, lower utilizationratio, et al. Therefore, the degree of utilization of the port coastline needs to be improved,which has great practical significance for the comprehensive planning and governance ofCoastal Zone, development and utilization of coastal beach reasonably, and even thesustainable development of economic in Zhoushan.In this thesis, Aoshan port coastline of Zhoushan Islands New Area is the Main studyobject. The satellite remote sensing technology is the main method of acquiringinformation, the accurate data material is obtained by the actual exploration andmeasurement, and search of references. By use of a variety of edge detection algorithms,image classification methods and comparative analysis, the shorelines and surroundingobjects of Aoshan island are classified.In this article, using QuickBird high-resolution images as a data sources, thefollowing work is done:1. Choice of the edge detection operator suitable for coastlinerecognition. Based on the features of shoreline images, five edge detection algorithms areselected to detect different types of coastline grayscale images, the three types of Aoshancoastal data are used. By analyzing and comparing the test results, the suitable coastlineedge detection operators are determined;2. In order to improve the effect of edge detection,median filtering, average filtering and sharpen processing are used for the edge detectionof various types of coastline grayscale images. By comparing the results of many timesexperiments, the preprocessing methods of images before image edge detection are determined with respect to three types of coastline.3. The detection process for coastlineedge is designed, and by means of a large number of experiments, the better and clearcoastline edge detection effects are obtained;4. Study the approaches of classification ofremote sensing images. By using of four methods for remote sensing image classification,which are the Mahalanobis distance, the maximum likelihood classification method, theK-the Mean Classification and ISOData dynamic clustering, classification experiments aredone. By compare the obtained classification results carefully, it is realized that themaximum likelihood classification is the optimal classification method for theclassification of Aoshan port coastline and surrounding objects.
