Jiangsu Province is located in the eastern coast of China, based on dense network of waterways and rich in climate resources. The flora has a subtropical to temperate transition and complexity composition, which is important area of flora study. In this study, Jiangsu Province is taken as an independent floristic unit. On the basis of the modern geographic distribution patterns of all species, genera and family in this region, the geographic distribution types at the three toxonomic levels were identified and taken into statistical analysis. By three method of similarity analysis, the flora of Jiangsu Province were compared with3adjacent regions to identify the relationships of floristic similarity among them. Also issue on the basic features, floristic properties and the principal origin of the floristic components were discussed. The results were showed as follows:1、The Plant diversity is abundant in Jiangsu Province. The flora was consisted of1970species of seed plants, belonging to150families and773genera. Among them are about14species,7genera,4families in Gymnospermae;956species,766genera,146families in Angiosperm, which demonstrates to distribution of plants in Jiangsu Province in adaptation to this climate zonein the area.2、The dominant families are obvious, which are gramineae, leguminosae, cyperaceae, compositae, rosaceae, labiatae, cruciferae, polygonaceae, ranunculaceae, liliaceae, crophulariaceae, caryophyllaceae, rubiaceae and lauraceae.3、The flora has some endemic elements. There are88species Chinese endemic species of seed plants in Jiangsu Province, making up4.47%in the total number of species in this area. While there are only20Chinese endemic genera of seed plants in Jiangsu Provice. The flora has obvious permeation, transition and frangibility.4、The flora shows a distinct transition of tropical to temperate. The tropical families occupied dominant position. But in the genera point of view, the flora has more temperate genera, which was59.48%of the total number of non-world distribution genera in Jiangsu Province. The pan-tropical elements and northern temperate elements were the core of the flora, and used to be the establishment species or dominant species. It shows a distinct transition of tropical to temperate.5、The R/T values change litter, while the geographical elements are different. Xuhuai hilly plains, Yuntai hilly areas and coastal saline soil plains are closer than the other, and Xuhuai hilly plains and Yuntai hilly areas have the highest similarity. While the Yangtze River plain and hilly areas are closer with hilly areas of Yili.6、The flora of Jiangsu Province has high similarity with Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province and Shandong Province. Anhui Province is most closed with Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province is second, and Shandong Province is the third. It’s mainly determined by their eco-geographical conditions and the climate.7、The flora was consisted of47endangered species, belonging to38genera,18families. It’s important to implement universal protection of wild plant resources.
