China is a marked earthquake active country and has much experience ofhistorical earthquakes with great loss of the lives and properties of the people.Due to the complex mutable soil condition and widespread weak soil in manyregions especially major and medium cities in China, the research on rock-soilseismic damage prediction and geographic division technique should bevigorously developed which has great significance of guiding the siteselection in national construction.Only classification of liquefaction and rough estimation of earthquakesubsidence of soft soil has been done, and the results are mainly hand-plotteddue to the defectively domestic seismic division and micro zoning techniqueand the too single indicator of it. In this dissertation, a method of rock-soilseismic damage division is studied as well as the realization of the multipleattribute zoning simulation of seismic stability. Soil liquefaction index,seismic subsidence and lateral displacement etc., which took the Tangshancity and its south region as its object of research, based on MAPGIS software.The main salient points and achievements obtained can be outlined:1. Topology analysis of map editor, overlay method and DEM analysisof spatial are learned and mastered, especially gridding method of discretedata, analysis of topographic factors and plotting stereoscopic grid in DEManalysis based on MAPGIS K9.2. An improved method of potential seismic stability for site seismicwas proposed in this paper, it was made up of fault belt, engineering geologycondition, hydrogeology condition, seismic action, and site classification.Tangshan city and its south region, for instance, a seismic stability procedurewas constructed and its site zoning map is plotted based on MAPGIS.3. Evaluation method for water level effect grade and ground motioninfluence coefficient has been presented and zoning maps for both have beenplotted based on MAPGIS.4. Totally36borehole data is collected. Took Tangshan city and itssouth region as its object to simulate the classification of liquefaction indexand mapped it with MAPGIS.5. Implemented the stimulation on zoning of seismic subsidence forTangshan city and its south region based on MAPGIS, sprang from twointernational calculation methods for earthquake-induced settlement of sandliquefaction.6. A simplified calculation method for liquefaction-induced lateralspreads is used to determine the corresponding calculation parameters forTangshan region, which has been internationally accepted. The simulation for lateral spreads of this site is offered with slopes that calculated by MAPGIS.
