The Design And Implementation Of Embedded GIS Based On ARM And Linux

Embedded GIS（Embedded Geographic Information System） is thecombination of embedded technology and geographic information systemtechnology. Recently, embedded technology has had substantialdevelopment including software and hardware. At the same time, theservice based on the geographic information has been used in many fields,such as the basic production, living and national defense. There weremany applications used embedded GIS, such as vehicle navigation,national land resource survey and the military command and so on.Technology development and the expansion of the demand created a goodenvironment for the development of embedded GIS. And in the future thedevelopment of embedded GIS will speed up. And the embedded GISapplications will become more popular. Recently embedded GISdevelopment is likely to become a new development direction of GIS. Butthere was no too much embedded GIS based on ARM and Linux, and therewere not mature middleware techniques now. Therefore the aim of thisthesis is to develop the embedded GIS based on ARM and Linux. The mainresearch content of this article:1. Analysis the current application status of embedded GIS. Andbriefly formulates the composition， characteristic and hardware of theembedded GIS from embedded system and GIS two perspectives.2. Propose the scheme of the hardware platform according to designrequirements， and all the most of components of embedded GIS areanalyzed in details.3. According to the specific hardware platform, propose the way ofporting operation, drivers and file system in details. 4. Propose two kind embedded GIS middleware, and they will beused almost all the embedded GIS.5. Implement terminal software; realize GIS basic functions such asthe browse display GIS data and so on.
