Nowadays, information warfare is considered as the chief fighting form of future warfare.Under the Information warfare, the battlefield would became digital. Therefore, in order to enhance the combat capabilities and survivability of individual-soldier on the future digital battlefield, each country is doing some research on individual-soldier fighting system. And it's very necessary to integrate Geographic Information System(GIS) for individual-soldier fighting system.Based on this background, with the combination of some technologies such as GIS , Embedded Linux, QT/Embedded, Path-finding and so on,this thesis aims to develop a safe Embedded GIS with independent intellectual property right and without backdoor. This Embedded GIS will be used in individual-soldier fighting system. In this thesis, Embedded GIS and correlative technologies are studied. The approximate process of developing embedded GIS are also discussed and researched. Based on embedded linux OS, QT/Embedded is taken as GUI tools to design GUI of this system. On the basis of GUI, some functional modules of embedded GIS are realized, such as spatial data management, map display, information label, etc. Besides, author of this thesis does some research on Path-finding, analyzes the principle of the original Dijkstra algorithm and beeline optimizing Dijkstra algorithm, and designs the data structure for the algorithm. This system is transplantable and universal as the design of system absorbs the thinking of Object-Oriented Programming and adopts C++ Language to realize it.
