This paper mainly studies the validation of oil exploration using electrical method in OrdosBasin. Yishan slope in Ordos Basin mainly contains lithological hydrocarbon reservoir whosestratigraphic dip is very small, and covered with thick loess on its ravines and gulliescriss-cross surface. Because of the complexity of topography and reservoir, the effect ofseismic exploration is not very well. So the non-seismic exploration such as electricalprospecting and geochemical exploration have got an extensive use. Aim at the problems ofelectrical prospecting in oil and gas detect. We applied a systematic study on abnormal patternand amplitude of electrical prospecting on this area.Based on the results of previous studies on electrical characteristics and abnormal formmechanism of oil and gas reservoir and upper strata, we established the resistivity andpolarization typical geoelectric pattern of oil and gas reservoirs.Take basis and thought of the characteristics of Ordos Basin’s stratigraphic level andlithological hydrocarbon reservoir, after analyze and statistics the resistivity logging data, weestablished the geological-geophysical model of Ordos Basin’s oil and gas reservoir and thetop. Through numerical simulation, two dimensional DC sounding method and MT soundingmethod forward modeling is carried out by using the finite element software, while analysingthe two methods’ feasibility in detecting hydrocarbon. The results showed that using theelectrical prospecting to detect reservoir itself is not feasible in the Ordos Basin, so usingindirect detection of hydrocarbon reservoirs vertical micro-seepage to cause the overallchanges of overlying layer’s resistivity and polarization can achieve the purpose of thereservoir.By process and analysis the data of measured resistivity sounding, CSAMT and IPsounding in three work area in Ordos Basin such as Zibei-shijiaban area, Hengshan-weijialouarea and Zhiluo area, contrasted the distribution of reservoir favorable area and evaluated theelectrical abnormal pattern and validity of application effect, indicating that electricexploration to detect oil and gas reservoirs in the Ordos Basin is feasible.
