Earthquake induced geological disaster is the ground failure under earthquakeaction,including sand liquefaction and ground fissure and collapse and landslideand debris flow,etc.Earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in China hasattached great importance to the earthquake-induced geological disasterforecast.The evaluation of earthquake induced geological disaster has beenincorporated as an important part of seismic microzonation and seismic safetyevaluation of engineering sites.Earthquake induced geological disaster has its characters such as multi-types,extensive distribution, and the data about earthquake induced geological disaster isin a scattered status nowadays. How to organize and manage these data, andachieve the goal of fast transferring and sharing is an important fundamentalproject.Using of these data is also significant for seismic fortification andscientific research.WebGIS is a GIS product applied to Internet, which can store,retrieve and analyze massive data of earthquake induced geological disaster.In this paper the north China is taken as study region,we will establishdatabase platform of earthquake induced geological disaster caused by the recentstrong earthquakes based on WebGIS and draw up the map of earthquake inducedgeological disaster distribution. The research contents are as follows.(1)Analyzedthe seismic activity and seismo-geological structure background in northChina.(2)Discussed the influential factors of seismic and geologicalhazard.(3)Organized the data of earthquake induced geological disaster caused bythe recent strong earthquakes and analyzed their distribution.(4)Introduced thecharacteristics of WebGIS and its structural model and technology, etc.(5)Thecritical issue were discussed and solved such as system architecture and databasedesign and data standardization, etc.(6)Established a database platform of seismicand geological hazard in north China based on WebGIS and J2EE.(7)We used thissystem to study the Sand liquefaction susceptibility in Tangshan,TianJin and theirsurrounding area. The major results are as follows.(1)The times of recorded recent strongearthquakes is267,and45of them caused geological disasters.(2)Establishing adatabase platform of seismic and geological hazard in north China based onWebGIS and J2EE,and achieving some functions such as data query.(3)Thedifference between liquefactions estimated by code and the real earthquakedamage may come from the difference between seismic fortification intensity,theground motion, variation of groundwater level, the thickness of unliquefied layer,local site effect,etc.The results of this paper not only can serve for earthquake resistant andscientific research in north region,but also play an exemplary role in establishingand analyzing the database platform of earthquake induced geological disaster inour country.
