| Intangible cultural heritage is the essence of material wealth and spiritual wealth,retained through time and chosen by humans, which are created in the process of the historicalpractice of human society. The protection of intangible cultural heritage is a world-wide hotissue and the protection key is a comprehensive understanding of the nature of the intangiblecultural phenomenon.Geographic Information System (GIS) and other new technologies provide new ideasand methods for a comprehensive, quantitative research of cultural phenomenon, culturallandscape, culture carriers, expression and other elements. Using geography knowledge as thefoundation, taking spatial thinking in the process of exploring the space shape, pattern, andcombined with GIS, spatial database, data model, spatial expression and other techniques,reveal the process mechanism of the origin of culture phenomenon and space distribution,making it more clearly and effectively to discuss the interaction relationship between thecultural landscape and regional environment.Based on the spatial database of the intangible cultural heritage, built the space-timedescription model of intangible cultural landscape, explored the space-time descriptionmethod, and discuss the spatial distribution, spatial structure and spatial relationship ofintangible cultural phenomenon and its carriers, which supplies the basic instruction and thetheoretic support for the protection and rational development of cultural heritage.Taking Yuxian paper-cut in Hebei province as an example, building the spatial datamodel through analysis of the characteristics of intangible cultural landscape, constructingYuxian paper-cut culture landscape according to the native place of artist. Constructing thetransmission cost surface of Yuxian paper-cut, making the use of terrain, traffic, culture carrier,culture environment and other factors. Based on the surface, building dissemination domainmodel and the heritage domain model of Yuxian paper-cut. Calculating the disseminationdomain of its different levels of dissemination center and the dissemination hinterland rangeof the market, the dissemination domain of Yuxian paper-cut reflects the its spatialcharacteristics from the art level; while the comparison the dissemination hinterland range based of the transmission cost surface with the ideal status reflects its spatial differentiationcharacteristics from its cogintive domain.
