Many properties of fabric such as dynamic drape, wrinkle resistance and comfort depend on the dynamic bending features of fabric. In modern world the dynamic bending feature of fabric plays a more and more important role and it will directly decide the actual application and evaluation of fabric as the application of new material and new technique.Research of static bending feature of fabric has lasted for several decades and much achievement was gained. Respectively research of dynamic bending feature is still in a stage of exploration and there is a lot of works need to be carried out. At present there are a great number of testing method for dynamic bending feature which has certain defects each other in the meantime. Therefore, it is important to carry further in-depth research in this field. There are also dynamic simulation of fabric, however, the wind loads are modeled by static or even roughly estimated a superposition of lift and drag vector. As is well known the aerodynamic force surrounding the fabric is quite complex especially in a turbulent flow field. With the development of FSI theory and the increasing of computer power, the direct simulation of interaction between air flow and elastic structure in a coupling system can be achieved. In this paper a new method based on aerodynamics and FSI theory is proposed. Computational model is built which is computed by ADINA program in order to study the dynamic response of fabric in a specific air flow filed and the result of simulation and experiments fits quite well.As an interdisciplinary work, this work is carried out on both experiment and numerical simulation in the meantime. This paper only focuses on the part of numerical simulation.Through this work, the dynamic response of fabric in a specific air flow is studied and the feasibility that the FSI simulation technique could be used for research of fabric is proved. This work presents a new thinking and it contributes to the future relative research.
