Spatial relation is one of the most important methods for people to express and describe our world which has always been a top topic in Geographic Information Science. In natural language, modeling of spatial relations language has the important theory significance and the project practical value in linguistics, natural language understanding, animation production and GIS. In the field of GIS, modeling of spatial relation language, based upon the standard formation of the conceptof the geo-spatial, using the methods of natural language and mathematics, has formed the expressing theory and calculation model of spatial relation, which is helpful for the semantic integration of GIS and natural language and can be applied in artificial intelligence, spatial reasoning and so on.Taking the analysis system of the spatial relation in natural languageas the base, regarding the spatial relation terms in Chinese context documents as research object, considering the functional and geometric feature of the spatial relation terms, this paperproposed the related analytical model for semantics which has been verified in the pragmatic environment. The main contents include the following four areas:(1) Classification of spatial relation terms:This paper has set spatial relation terms summarized from Chinese context documents as data source, classifying and clustering every term in accordance with their spatial relation type, combination and constraint form of part of speech and finally formed spatial relation vocabulary.(2) Construction of the constraint relation between spatial relation terms and types of geographic feature:Spatial relation terms can reflect the status of the geographic entities and relations between geographic features. It has strong indication of spatial relations. This paper adopted the method of overlap to calculate the correlation degree between spatial relation terms and geographical features, extended it by the semantic relevance of the concept in the geographical features classification system, and built the knowledge base.3) Form the geometric analytical model of spatial relation words:In this paper, geographic featuresare simplified to geometric model based upon9intersection model and the constraints between spatial relation words and geographic feature type. Then construct geometric analytical model of a simple double spatial topological relation. We also studied spatial orientation relations according to model of eight-directions, TPCC and GPCC. And spatial frame of reference is chosen according to geometry feature of geographic entity. Then build the model based upon orientation, topology and distance.(4) Applications:Two applications of the semantic analytical model of spatial relation terms in Chinese context documents are discussed in this paper:a) Fuzzy spatial modeling of Chinese place name. First, apply the model to the environment according to inaccuracy descriptions of a place name. Then, visualize it, overlap the visualized areas and set the overlapped region as the upper and lower boundaries of the fuzzy geographical names. b)Descriptions of GIS Spatial relation in natural language. To any two geospatial entities, apply the model to get the spatial relations and describe them using proper spatial relation terms and syntax.
