Although the phenomenon of chaos is derived from the deterministic nonlinear system,its dynamical performance is pseudo-random. Chaos is characterized by a sensitivedependence of a system’s dynamical variables on the initial conditions. Because of theunpredictability and the instability of chaos, control and use of the chaos has became the keysection of the chaos research. Therefore, with the put forward of chaos control and chaossynchronization theory, the boom of scholar research on chaos control and synchronizationwas begin.Nowadays, researchers have proposed wide variety of synchronization control methods,but due to the different of the synchronization method and the controller, the difficulty ofimplementation is different. So design a simple and easily achieved controller is practicalsignificance to the application of chaos synchronization in secure communication.This paper is based on an idea of select a simple controller to implement the chaossynchronization, according to the sliding mode variable structure and adaptive control theory,analysis the synchronization of chaotic systems based on a single controller. There are fourparts in this paper. Firstly it has systematically introduced the chaos theory, including anoverview of basic research of chaos, chaos control, chaos synchronization. In the second part,I introduced the numerical simulation of chaos synchronization and the basic theory ofvariable structure sliding mode and adaptive control. In the third part, I discussed the chaoticsynchronization based on variable structure sliding mode control, use the Arneodo system,unified chaotic system and Chua chaos system as the case, through the theoretical analysisand numerical simulation proof this method can be used for synchronization of chaotic system.And the numerical simulation result of Arneodo system, unified chaotic system and Chuachaos system have been given in the paper. In the last part, I discussed the chaoticsynchronization based on adaptive control, use the Liu system, three-dimensional autonomysystem as the case, through the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation proof thismethod can be used for synchronization of chaotic system. And the numerical simulation result of Liu system, three-dimensional autonomy system have been given in the paper.According to the theory analysis and the numerical analysis, I proof the effectiveness ofchaotic synchronization based on variable structure sliding mode control and adaptive control.Further more, the controller is single to select and it has very broad application prospects.
