It is shifting to deep water of offshore oil and gas resources exploitation. As a key link to deepwater oil and gas exploitation, deepwater pipeline laying needs to make technological breakthrough continually. With the birth of "Hai Yang Shi You201", which is a3000m deepwater pipe laying crane vessel, the operating water depth of pipeline laying has a qualitative upgrade. But there still exist problems of technical inadequacies, one of these inadequacies is the design and analysis technique of deepwater S-lay stinger.In this paper, it’s aimed to provide technical reserve for deepwater oil and gas recourses exploitation, starting from working principle of stinger, which is one of the key equipments for deepwater S-lay method, based on theory of pipeline configuration design, then discussing the design method of stinger basic control parameters related to laying capacity, and giving the flow of basic design and structural analysis for stinger. Taking some deepwater S-lay stinger as the prototype, stinger structural analysis is performed under static condition by use of common finite element software ANS YS, and the design of stinger is validated from two aspects, which are stiffness and strength.To make up for the inadequacies of theoretical and numerical methods in design and analysis of S-lay stinger, on the basis of tank test and structural experiment, the paper puts forward to conduct a stinger model experiment by use of substructure hybrid experiment method, in order to validate design and operating situation of stinger structure under coupling of various loads. In the experiment, making use of6-DOF motion simulation platform to simulate motion of pipe laying vessel, designing and manufacturing the medium/large scale model of stinger by similarity principle, then the design example of stinger is analyzed. At last, it is performed of stinger safety analysis under equivalent dynamic condition, by returning the experiment result to finite element model through dynamic amplification factor. The research work of this paper has some reference value to the development of theory and technology related to deepwater pipe laying of our country.
