With the continuous exploration and development of oil field, horizontal well, directional well and other special well have been widely used. It becomes much more difficult to drill, and the geosteering technology which emerged to solve these problems gets more and more attention. The mud logging guide model is a ground software system used in geosteering, and rock model is the core module of mud logging guide model, its function is showing users the geological structure of the drilling area in the form of two-dimensional graphics. The graphic describes the relationship between the well trajectory and geological strata which can offer experts some effectual help to make decision about drill-adjusting. So experts can control the drill effectively and make the well trajectory crossing reservoir as much as possible to improve directional wells reservoir drilling rate and recovery ratio. The main task of this paper is the research and implementation of rock model. After comprehensive analysis we think it will be a good way to construct rock model by taking advantage of logging data of adjacent wells. Firstly we project adjacent wells data onto the main orientation of the horizontal wells, then divide stratum with log data and contrast stratums between adjacent wells, in this way we establish the regional stratigraphic sequences. We can construct the two-dimensional geological section of horizontal wells with those stratigraphic sequences, at the same time we can plus real-time refresh function of actual drilling trajectory in the surrounding rock area to complete logging oriented features.The content of this study include the following aspects:(1) After researching and analysis the log data we determine to use logging curve data to construct rock model. It filters the original data, selects useful data to model and executes data pre-processing accordingly. When the original data is rare, we find a way to interpolate with these only data.(2) This paper expatiates how to divide section of curve in the aspect of well log curve shape, amplitude and other characteristics so as to divide stratum of well in the longitudinal direction. Then using the stratigraphic correlation technology laterally expanded, and in this way, we can find out the stratigraphy around well trajectory, and describe the geological section in this regional. It elaborates the process and the appropriate data structures of this method.(3) This model is designed by using object-oriented method, and we complete data processing in MFC framework realize the visualization of rock model with GDI+technology. The system provides a flexible user interaction. User can save, edit and take a review of the graphic conveniently.The mud logging guide model implemented in this paper response fast and the reusability and scalability are good. Rock module has a certain degree of accuracy, and a certain utility in practical applications. The measured test data provided by a project is used to verify the correctness of the results, and verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the system.
