Frozen rain is a severe disaster weather, which can cause tremendous harm to people’s lives and could bring about a great amount of damage and loss on agricultural, industry, power system etc. Thus, it is of great significance to study the formation and prevention mechanism of it, and then designing a system to monitor and forecast it is still of vital importance. According to the loss of effective measures to monitor and forecast it promptly and effectively, a system of monitoring and forecasting frozen rain is designed by this paper based on the wireless sensor networks of ZigBee and the technology of GPRS. The rest of this paper is arranged as follows.Firstly, according to analysis the distribution of high-voltage transmission lines and power towers, the topological structure of linear network is applied to this monitoring and forecasting frozen rain system. Based on the formation factors of frozen rain, the meteorological model of the case of it is obtained. And the estimation of the linear network is achieved that the coordinator working as the aggregation node firstly builds the network automatically and then the router and the terminal node which work as the acquisition nodes are joined to the network automatically.Secondly, the system of monitoring and forecasting the frozen rain is mainly made up of the acquisition nodes, the aggregation nodes and the remote monitoring center. The designed acquisition nodes are primarily response for collecting temperatures, humidness, wind speeds, node numbers and voltages. And the aggregation nodes composed of data transporting module of GPRS and the coordinator notes are mainly in charge of transporting data.Thirdly, a remote monitoring center is designed based on industrial controlling software by this paper..And a method of setting variables exchange based on the flag node is acquired through anatomizing the communication protocol and analyzing the experiments of variables exchanges, resolving the problem unresolved for the present that the industrial controlling configuration software can’t communicate with the wireless sensor network of ZigBee, and achieving the communication between the industrial controlling configuration software and the wireless sensor networks. Meanwhile, the monitoring and forecasting interface based on the configuration software is very friendly and it is very convenient for the users to use.The designed frozen rain monitoring and forecasting system can collect the data of all the nodes accurately. The forecasting interface can give the warning tips when the parameter conditions set by the frozen rain module are met. This paper achieves the communication between the industrial controlling configuration software and the wireless sensor network through GPRS, which provides the theoretical basis of remote industrial monitoring.
