Mesityleine (1-3-5-Trimethylbenzene) is an important and useful fine raw industrial chemicals chemical raw material, can be used to produce 1-3-5-trimethylaniline, antioxidant agent, weedkiller, and a variety of Pharmaceutical and chemical intermediates.C9 Arene come from the xylene tower bottom oil of a catalytic reforming device, mainly include consists of unsym-trimethyl benzene, aetherbenzene, mesitylene, hemimellitene the etc. are the precious resources of the chemical engineering, have very high additional value.In recent years, along with the progress of petroleum processing technology, the C9 Arene of catalytic reforming device is more than 700,000 tons,but in our country, the study on C9 Arene is start latter, the scale is smaller, and the utilization be still lower, many C9 Arene haven’t yet further separate but to be a gasoline adjustment, it waste the resources.1-2-4-trimethyl benzene, 1-3-5-trimethyl-benzene, and 1-2-3-trimethyl-benzene from catalytic reforming unit are important aspect on the utilization of aromatic hydrocarbons. The utilization of aromatic hydrocarbons can act in accord with development stratagem in petrochemical industry and bring significance to increase economic benefit.But in C9 Arene, the mesitylene general is 8-10% wt and the boiling point of the composition of theC9 Arene are very close. Especially the difference between the boiling point of the mesitylene and 1- methyl-2-aetherbenzene is only 0.5℃, the relative volatility is 1.009. It is very difficulty to get purity mesitylene by distillation.Therefore, how to get purity mesitylene from C9 Arene is a focus these days. The paper introduces a process of manufacturing high purity mesitylene from C9 Arene. By the experiment research and theories analysis, assurance the process of pre-distillation, the best reaction condition by using tert-Butyl chloride as alkylation reagent and metal-chloride as catalyst and the best condition of distillation to get highly pure mesitylene.
