The Armoured Face Conveyor is an core component of mining technology, which will be stretched、curved and so on. The transmission system is consisted of the sprocket and chain, which’s performance is directly related to the reliability of AFC. what’s more, relating the productivity and profit of the enterprise’s. The reliability and stability of transmission system directly affect the efficiency and service life of AFC, the paper study the dynamic behavior of transmission system when the motor is starting. The main work and achievements include the following contents:The model of the motor is established base on the mechanical character curve and Matlab/Simulink. The performance of motor is study when it starts with no loading. The contact model of sprocket and chains are established based on nonlinear finite element analysis software, the simulation results provide useful guidance for design and test of the sprocket. Meanwhile, accurate torsional stiffness coefficient of the sprocket is obtained for simulation of the transmission system of AFC. The chain transmission system is discretized into the Kelvin-Vogit model through the finite element method, the vertical discrete dynamic model is established and the simulation model of the transmission system is built by using the software of Matlab/Simulink packageThe whole model of Armoured Face Conveyor is established. The start-up of the armored face conveyor is simulated. The pretension force, tension and velocity of the chain is obtained from the simulation results, meanwhile, this novel method offers a theoretical basis for designing and matching the key components. The preloading force of the chain system is studied. Therefore we can chose the optimal chain pre-tension for the AFC.The paper study the characteristics of the transmission system and this novel method offers a theoretical basis for designing and matching the key components.
