In order to improve the enterprise processing efficiency and economy, this paper usedto design spiral groove taps threading for the problem of machining the thread of37.5mmdiameter and16mm pitch. Spiral groove taps can reduce tapping torque, make smoothscraps discharge, make it using longer, and the taps processing efficiency is higher thanthe ordinary one.So the spiral groove taps is widely used in high toughness and in bigplastic material of tapping. The spiral groove taps structure is complex. So the design oftraditional method is not the stiffness, strength and stress in precise analysis.This purpose of the paper is using with the optimization design and the finite elementmethod to spiral groove taps on structures, and the main research contents are as follows:(1) The taps tapping is analyzed by the situation,then it deduces the reasonabletorque formula of taps tapping. At last the mechanical model of the spiral groove tapstapping is established.(2) The geometric parameters on the spiral groove taps is analyzed with the cuttingperformance influence. Next the tapping torque minimum is using as a target throughoptimizing,then the optimized geometric parameters of the large diameter and threadpitch taps are obtained. Finally, the good groove type base on the optimal taps geometricparameters are obtained.(3) A six groove of the CAD model taps are established. Machining simulation isusing by Deform. Then the process of cutting force per tooth taps is got in the conditionsof allowable strength and stiffness. At the same time, it also analyzes the most importantparameters of the taps in different Angle before cutting tool of the effect of cutting value.Finally,it is proved the value of the optimization analysis is the best value.(4) Because the tap in tapping may be vibrate, so the static and dynamic analysis ofthe finite element analysis software ANSYS must be revised. Then the first six naturalfrequency and vibration mode are confirmed to avoid processing process resonance andinfluencing the surface accuracy of processing. Also,its torque is very reasonable.Theimportant forecast data are provided.Through this research, the taps of self designed are provided by the reliabletheoretical basis and method instruction. At the same time a powerful guidance andreference value are provided to the production and design of the factories.
