In general, the traditional method of fixture design use experience and theanalogy, designers need to search a lots of data and manuals, the traditional designatemethods is characterized by long period, high cost, low standardization andgeneralization. Along with the development of manufacturing technology, andcomputer aided fixture design gradually the place of a traditional fixture design.Under this background, studying on fixture location points layout automationdesign has an important theoretical meaning and practical value and it has been one ofthe key techniques of CIMS.After a deeply and carefully analyzing and investigating about the developmentand research of CAFD at home and abroad, the whole structure of fixture locationpoints layout automation design system was analyzed, This paper introduces in detailthe design of locating correctness analysis and location scheme. The key techniquesduring developing were expounded briefly.Then, based on the velocity composition law of a particle movement, theconstraint principle and locating principle are formulated to describe the relationshipbetween the machining requirements and theoretical constrained DOFs, the locatingscheme and practical constrained DOFs, respectively. Secondly, in light of Venndiagram, the logic relationship between theoretical constrained DOFs and practicalconstrained DOFs are analyzed in detail. Finally, according to the solution technologyof homogeneous linear equation set, established location points layout planningalgorithm, and achieved the automation design function of location points layout atplatform of UG.The method is applied not only to the workpiece with arbitrary shapes, but alsoundoubtedly promotes the development of CAFD technologies.
