Open CNC system has become the trend of modern CNC system, and its technology system hasbeing changed from closed system to open system gradually, it makes an influence on thedevelopment of CNC system. In this paper, an open CNC system was designed, the controlled objectis the micro-cutting machining,it has air flotation guide and drived by the linear motors, The systemis support by computer, and its core is PMAC programmable multi-axis motion controller.Thefollowing is the main research of this paper:1)Based on the micro-cutting machine and PMAC programmable multi-axis motion controller,an open architecture CNC system has been built. The real-time work is done by this controller and theother work is accomplished by PC.2)Do dynamic characteristics parameters tuning of the servo system for maximum using thisdriven Open CNC system, based on the analysis of the servo parameters’ influence on systemdynamic performance, by using the improved discrete PID algorithm and an effective feed-forwardcontrol algorithm, the platform servo’s control accuracy and servo follow precision improvedeffectively.3)The CNC control software is developed by VC, and in the development process, the entireCNC system software function is divided into several parts based on the idea of modularization. Andwe discuss the function of each module and the specific implementation method in detail.4)Considering the small diameter of micro-machining tool and clearance of tool setting,establish automatic tool system through the use of vision-based methods. With the help of this system,it realizes closed-loop control and automatic control to the clearance, it shorten the time of tool settingand improve tool setting precision effectively.
