Cyclodextrins as carriers for natural drugs have a hydrophobic central cavity anda hydrophilic outer wall. The hydrophobic central cavity can encapsulate drugmolecules to conform the host–guest complexes. Which can usually enhance andimproves solubility and stablity of the encapsulated natural drugs. The studiescyclodextrin and three natural flavonoids (Alpinetin, naringenin and hesperetin)inclusion behavior, discusses the inclusion complexes of bonding capacity, characterization and stability. This is constituted of three chapters. In Chapter one, a review of the preparation and characterization of thecyclodextrin complexes was presented. In Chapter two, The inclusion behavior, characterization and binding ability ofAlpinetin with cyclodextrins (α-CD、β-CD and γ-CD) and its derivatives(HPβ-CD)have been investigated in both solution and the solid state by means of UV, XRD,DSC,1~H and2D NMR, FT-IR and SEM. The results showed that the solubility ofAlpinetin was increased after resulting inclusion behavior with cyclodextrins(Scheme1).In Chapter three, the inclusion behavior, characterization and binding ability ofnaringenin and hesperidin with cyclodextrin (β-CD) and its derivatives(HPβ-CD、DMβ-CD and TMβ-CD) has been investigated in both solution and the solid state bymeans of UV, XRD,1H and2D NMR, FT-IR and DSC. The results showed that thesolubility and stability of naringenin and hesperidin were increased in the inclusionbehavior with cyclodextrin. Cyclodextrin inclusion ability are the same in the acidicconditions (PH=3) and alkaline conditions (PH=10.5). Cyclodextrin inclusionability size: β-CD>DMβ-CD>TMβ-CD(Scheme2and Scheme3).
