With the constantly changing of rules, and the constantly upgrading of the equipments, tabletennis is becoming more and more competitive and furious, so the players demand a higherstandard of the shoes used in the game. We can learn from an table tennis step characteristicanalysis that slip and shock absorption of table tennis are the most important and the mostfundamental performances, and also the core of biomechanical design of the professional tabletennis shoes. In this experiment, Kistler,a three-dimensional force measurement device, is used to examthe friction coefficient on the wooden floor interface and the plastic interface of three pairs ofprofessional table tennis shoes, so as to assess which one is better in different interfaces, and alsomake a preliminary study of factors affecting slip performance. The result of slip experimentshows that on the wooden floor interface, Double Stars shoes have the biggest friction coefficientin lateral direction, Mizuno the second, and Butterfly the smallest. in longitudinal direction,Double Stars shoes have the biggest coefficient, Butterfly the second, and Mizuno the smallest, and that on the plastic interface, Mizuno shoes have the biggest friction coefficient in lateraldirection, and the Double Stars the smallest. In longitudinal direction,Butterfly has biggestcoefficient, and the Double Stars the smallest. The experiment indicates that on the hard woodenfloor the Double Stars has a better slip performance than the other brands, but on the soft plasticinterface,it would be Mizuno and Butterfly. Statistics shows there is a very significant differencein slip performance between these shoes in different interfaces.Emed force plates and Pedar force-measurement system are used synchronously to analyzethe dynamics indicators of the shoe-to-ground interface and the foot-to-shoe interface when sixmale tennis players finish three common moving steps wearing three pairs of different brands oftable tennis shoes, meanwhile make a judgment on the shock absorption performance of thedifferent shoes under the knowledge of shock absorption, and make a preliminary study of factorsaffecting shock absorption performance of the shoes. Shock absorption experiment shows that when the six players finish the selected actions, the Mizuno shoes can reduce the impulse andpressure forefoot suffered at largest, and also the maximum reaction force, the Mizuno has thebest shock absorption performance and it protects the feet well. The Butterfly does so-so in shockabsorption performance, and the Double Stars perform the worst. There are significant differencesin shock absorption performance between these shoes. The result indicates the EVA used in thebottom of the shoes and WAVE shock-absorption structure in heel area have a great impact inshock absorption performance of Mizuno.
