CTP(computer-to-plate)technology research started in the 1970s, withthe technology continues to mature, CTP has gradually become themainstream of development. From drupa 2008 exhibition, thermal CTP hasbeen the dominant status, and rapidly developed. With the improvement ofpeoples’environmental protection consciousness, volatile organic solvents hasbeen given up gradually by people, instead that new environmental protectionnon-treatment thermal imaging CTP plate has received public hot models. Atpresent, Europe, America and other developed countries have appear similarproducts, but in China, it is still at the preliminary stage, and needs urgentdevelopment.The main research content was focused on the preparation of functionalpolymers and the application in thermal imaging system, which mainlyincluded water-soluble film-forming resin, water-soluble infrared dyes,core-shell emulsion and other additives. Core-shell latex and water-solublefilm-forming resin will undergo affinity change after laser exposure andcompleted the information recording process. The thermal sensitive resin layercould be developed by neutral water without use of solvent and chemicaltreatment, which was a environmentally friendly recording materials. The mainwork are as follows:(1) The development of the substrate layer for double-layer CTP plate. GeneralPS plates were washed and coated with the mixture of the prepared polymerresin and small molecules additives, giving the smooth surface and had goodsolvent resistance and water resistance.(2) On the basis of the study of core-shell emulsion, we make someimprovements of the emulsifier by changing the structure of the emulsifier, themonomer, in a wish to get more stable core-shell emulsion with uniform particlesize.(3) The water soluble film-forming resin was prepared. Through the modification of epoxy group of phenolic epoxy resin F-44 , and the addition ofthe certain additives, the modified resin become soluble in water. In addition,the viscosity of the system varied by changing the amount of additives, and itmade good effect on film formation.(4)The water-soluble infrared dye was made by the modification of thecommercially available oil-soluble infrared dye, and met the requirement ofwater solublilty . Also, the absorption spectra of the dye remained stable.(5)The coating solutions were prepared by mixing the compositions uniformlyand the content of each component was optimized to obtained the finalproduct . The coating solutions were coated on the aluminum plates and thepreliminary images were got by drying, exposure, and water development.
