Mold is important equipment in industrial production and can be used to make a certain shape and size of nearly all products. Cavity is a major part to form the main outer surface of plastic forming as well as one of the main component parts of plastic mold. The reliability of their work directly affects the quality of plastic parts and normal work of the molds.In this paper, much research and analysis have been conducted to the injection mold cavity based on the reliability design theories. This thesis is based on the basic theory of reliability, finite element analysis(FEA) and fatigue analysis. Pro/E software are adopted to digital design to build three-dimensional model of the mold cavity. Meanwhile, the finite element analysis software MSC.Patran is adopted to build finite element model and submit to MSC.Nastran to make static FEA, thus get the corresponding equivalent stress and displacement map trying to determine each position in a mold cavity stress and displacement, the maximum deformation of the cavity wall in the mid-point location, type cavity around the corner stress concentration. MSC.Fatigue is adopted to access fatigue life of the cavity under different stress and the location of the most damaging of the node based on fatigue strength design theory .This theory is used to analyze the whole life about cavity based on S-N curve of the mold to make fatigue analysis of cavity and then make fatigue design optimization. The method of model of stress-strength interference of the mechanical reliability design theory is adopted to calculate reliability of the mold cavity.Applying the reliability design theory, FEA and fatigue analysis technique to the mold cavity design study can effectively improve the design quality and the life of molds, reduce costs of making the plastic products. And it has a significant impact of improving productivity and business equipment competitiveness and provide the method designing and analyzing the similar mold structure.
