With the development of science and modern technology and the social productive forces, the mechanical product quality and production efficiency put forward more and more high demand. Especially for high-speed, high precision CNC processing demand significantly enhanced. Because the high speed numerical control milling machine has many advantages over ordinary CNC milling machines, such as small cutting force, small thermal deformation of work piece, high material cutting rate, low vibration of the processing system and being able to cut difficult cutting materials, the high speed CNC milling machine becomes developing direction of various countries’ equipment manufacturing industry. We start the high speed CNC research and development in1990s, and has the large gap comparison with the western developed countries.For now, the machine tool design theory has not a more complete system design method for high-speed CNC milling machine. This topic references the domestic and foreign massive high speed CNC milling machine document, according to the modulation design principle, this topic has designed the main components, such as machine tool pillar, machine tool beam, machine tool bed, which affect the stiffness, stability and vibration characteristics of the high speed CNC milling machine tool. According to design requests, three dimensional solid model of the high speed CNC machine tool was established, and then finite element model for the machine was also established, analyses of stress and strain were carried on under the limited work load conditions. And the machine tool parts were optimized and designed by sizes.The specific research content as follows:(1) On the analysis of the high-speed CNC milling machine development trend at home and abroad, author suggests the overall design scheme of CNC milling machine.(2) According to the design requirements of high-speed CNC milling machine for high speed cutting, size parameters of the major components of the machine tool were determined, and3-dimensional solid models were constructed for the machine tool main components by Solid Works.(3) Complete the virtual assembly of the main components of machine tool by SolidWorks.(4) Finite element models were built by ANSYS for the major components of the high-speed CNC milling machine, such as the pillar, beam and bed, and the structure static analyses were analyzed.(5) Dynamic models of major components of high-speed CNC milling machine were established, and carried on the dynamic performance research and optimization.Under today’s world background of many countries scrambling to develop high-speed CNC milling machine, we try to summarize the design process and method of high-speed CNC milling machine, and hope to provide meaningful reference for the research of high-speed CNC milling machine in future.
