Aromatic polycarboxylic acids are often used to design and assemble of organic polycarboxylic acid metal coordination polymer owing to their flexible coordination modes. Their coordination polymers have attracted much attention because of the charming topology and other aspects of value in the optics, gas storage, drug and catalytic. Therefore, rational design and synthesis of novel organic polycarboxylic acids, as well as to build new materials with specific functions has become a hot issue. In this thesis, a series of aromatic polycarboxylic acids with specific structural characteristics have been synthesized, and a variety of metal-organic coordination polymers are constructed by hydrothermal and solvothermal method with the synthesized ligands. The detailed research work is outlined as follows:1. Five aromatic polycarboxylic acid ligands were synthesized, and their structure were determined by~1HNMR,~13CNMR, IR and elemental analysis.2-(4-Carboxyphenyl)-pyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylic acid was synthesized by coupling, oxidation and other multi-step reaction using urea, acetylacetone, p-methoxycarbonylphenyl boronic acid as raw materials.2,2’-Biphenol-3,3’5,5’-tetra-(4-benzoic acid),2,2’-dimethoxy-3,3’,5,5’-tetra-(4-benzoic acid) biphenyl,4,4’-biphenol-3,3’5,5’-tetra(4-benzoic acid),4,4’-dimethoxy-3,3’,5,5’-(4-benzoic acid) biphenyl was synthesized through halogenation, coupling, oxidation and other multi-step reaction using2,2’-biphenol,4,5’-biphenol as raw materials.2. Seven new lanthanide coordination polymers (Y, Er, La, Eu, Tb, Ce and Nd) were synthesized by hydrothermal reaction under different conditions, using2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-pyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylic acid as the ligand. They were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction,IR and elemental analysis and their properties were characterized by powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, fluorescence analysis.3. Two new transition-metal coordination compounds (Mn and Ni) were synthesized by hydrothermal reaction under different conditions, using2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-pyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylic acid as the ligand. Their structures were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction.
