Organic pollutants have instant and persistent risk for environment and citizen when it was put into surroundings via production running and human activities. Lanzhou city has been focused by its famous pollution problem, in which organic pollutants has a main role. As most of organic pollutants can be deposited in sediments, such as ditch mud, wetland or lake sediment and dustfall. so a components determination of organic compounds could help people to differentiate a source of pollutant and its maintain situation, so based on which pollution control and environment protect will be guided.Twenty’five sediment samples from ditch, wetland, park lake and dustfall in main area of Lanzhou city was analysized in this research, their organic components (including alkanes, PAHs and certain complicate compounds) constitute and feature was determined by GC-MS analysis. After a series of comparation and discussion about source, surrounding conditions and contaminate situation, following conclusion could be made:(1) Almost all sedimental samples show high value of CP12(nC25-nC33), which implies a n-alkane contribution from terrestrial high plants wax. The same n-alkane distribution characteristic appears in dustfall samples. The OEP (odd even preference) for nC17-nC23from wetland sedimental sample suggests the n-alkane contribution of aquatic algae and plankton.(2) Almost all samples contain PAHs, which means its sources abundant. The compound of PAHs are mainly with three or four cycle, few with two or five cycle. Our research suggests they mainly come from two sources:chemical industrial in Xigu section and automobile exhaust.(3) The appearance of dibutyl phthalate implies an input of toxic organic solvent, which might be used during spray painting process.(4) Domestic sewage’ input is found in a few ditch mud sample, which contains cholesterol.
